The “Theory of Human Genetic Behaviors” can discover the true meaning of democracy and human rights
I use logical reasoning to derive my theory. My theory starts with this premise: We know animals have instincts; for example, a young cat will learn how to effectively catch mice after merely a few attempts as a survival requirement. A German Sheppard dog will bark at a stranger while a small Peking dog will wag its tail. But what exactly is instinct? I deem that instinct is merely memory transmitted genetically from one generation to the next in the form of "old experience." But humans are animals, too. Therefore, humans should also have instincts. I label these human instincts as "genetic behaviors." Two rules govern human genetic behaviors:
Rule 1. Our ancestors' experience skills are transmitted to us genetically, just like a cat's instinct to help it to learn mice catching quickly. This phenomenon is called human genetic behaviors.
Rule 2. Humans are intelligent animals. If a certain human genetic behavior does not accommodate the present environment, humans can adjust that behavior quickly. Animals cannot.
The reason why we have the first rule is that humans are animals, too. Whatever rules are applicable to animals should also feasible for humans. Thus, humans should have genetic behaviors, just like animals have instincts. The reason why we have a second rule is that humans are intelligent animals. If a certain genetic behavior does not fit well in the present environment, humans can adjust that behavior quickly. Animals are unable to do so. By comparing our brain to a computer, it seems as if our brain is not a new computer that warrants all sorts of programs for installation; rather it is an old computer that has all sorts of old programs already installed. Our behaviors act according to these old programs. If we want to change a certain behavior, we need an update to that program. Of course if a program remains unused for a long time, we must engage in a few practices to eliminate the rust.
If people truly have genetic behaviors, then we can explain many racial behavioral differences by investigating humans' genetic backgrounds; for example, why can Westerners maintain a truly democratic society while non-Westerners have all failed? Using these two rules is like applying Newton's two laws of mechanism to construct buildings safely. To find the answer why Westerners can maintain a truly democratic society while all others have failed, we must reflect upon how human ancestors lived during ancient times. Humans are group-oriented animals. To make the group successful, each member needs to contribute to the group. In the early days of mankind group living, two methods were established to achieve this goal. 1. A controlling governance system (people call it authoritarianism) was formulated to ensure each member made his/her fair share of contribution to the group. 2. A self-discipline governance system (people call it democracy) was devised that each member voluntarily makes his or her fair contribution to the group. It depended on the environment where ancient people lived that enabled people to choose which governance system was more suitable. In the desert environment of the Middle East and in Northern China (Gobi desert where the Yellow River passes through), people chose the controlling governance system. In the cold weather environment of North-western Europe, people selected the self-discipline governance system.
The rationale is pretty obvious. In ancient times, the desert environment required people to determine a skillful leader to guide the group to hunt in the desert. Any mistake, such as missing a waterhole, could mean death for the group. By watching the sun, moon, and stars, the leader knew exactly where the waterholes were located and where to hunt for animals. Members needed to learn this skill from the bottom. Therefore, a ranking system was created. Members with sophisticated skills were higher in the ranking and could give orders to members of lower ranking or punishments for making mistakes. In a way, it was similar to the ranking system in a Chinese Kungfu club. Group members were very loyal to the group and respected the group leader’s skills; because without the group, they could not survive. In this manner, the controlling governance system (authoritarianism) originated. The desert had only scarce resources. Groups competed with each other for the limited possessions. Therefore, group fighting was common. The desert people were used to this controlling governance environment for more than three thousand years. Unfortunately when the controlling power is relaxed in the present environment, they may get into trouble. We will touch more about this feature when we talk about the desert people’s desire to adapt a democratic society.
In ancient times in the cold weather environment of North-western Europe, people were facing a common enemy: the cold weather because it could kill. A cold blizzard suddenly arrived. Any unlucky person, who was unable to return to a shelter, could face death. Therefore, to maintain the population, people regarded life as extremely precious; they did all they could to preserve it. Considering life as precious probably influenced many proactive behaviors, such as social justice, fairness to reduce disputes, foster peace, etc. People needed to form groups for hunting. However, nobody could claim that he/she could deal with the cold weather enemy better than others. In turn, each member in the group was considered as equal. The group needed to create a governance system to operate efficiently. They selected a member as the leader. If his/her performance failed to meet expectations, members could select another person as a leader. Because everyone was considered as equal, each member's personal preferences were highly respected, as long as the performance of the entire group was not impacted. That was how democracy and human rights likely originated. Food was not a problem after humans invented hunting tools. The way they hunt was similar to Westerners engaging in rodeos currently. Members must be brave. Each member must act unselfishly. Otherwise, others would not be willing to form a group with him or her. That was the only way people could do with the selfish member because each member was considered to be equal. When everyone was considered to be equal, no one had the authority to discipline others. This was unlike the desert people’s controlling government system. Therefore democracy is a self-discipline governance system. The selfish member could not survive by himself in the cold environment. Gradually those selfish persons were eliminated or the more intelligent ones were able to alter their behaviors. In essence, the remainder members were very self-disciplined, so Westerners today are more self-disciplined than other races.
Likewise, blacks and South-East Asians' ancestors lived in the hot settings of Africa and South East Asia. Again, people survived by hunting and gathering with extended families. Here people did not need to compete with nature. Because of this condition, the area became overcrowded. Individual or small group fighting to compete for resources became common. Here basically individuals or small groups survived by themselves.
Later about three thousand years ago, the desert people started to migrate to other parts of the world. They had the advantage of group fighting force. They drove away local people consisting of smaller groups, but they still kept their preferred governance system. That is why we have the controlling governance systems (authoritarianism) in Eastern countries like China, Korea, Japan, Mongol, Middle East countries, South America and Northern Europe (Russia and Northern Europe were conquered by Mongols in history). The cold weather people's migration took place much later, in the 15-16 century, after the invention of gun powder. So we have the self-disciplined (democracy) governance system countries in North-western Europe and North America.
In history, the controlling governance system was more successful. China and Egypt have a few thousand years of history while countries of Western Europe have only a few hundred years history. Westerners were emulating the desert people’s governance system at first because they were more successful at around 14-15 hundred. Westerners also established the monarch governance system. As Westerners became more successful in the 16-17 hundred, they transitioned to the democratic system.
All in all, there are many genetic behavioral differences between the desert people and the cold weather people. For example, gay rights are allowed in the Western countries (descendants of cold weather people) but gay rights are discouraged in Eastern countries (descendants of desert people). The reason for this is because the self-discipline governance system emphasizes the interest of the individual member. Each member's personal preferences were highly respected, as long as the performance of the entire group was not impacted. That was a human right. But the controlling governance system emphasized the interest of the whole group. Gay behaviors would reduce the newborn rate and weaken the group. In the old days, having group members’ loyalty was important. That was why gay activity was discouraged in desert people historically. This memory can genetically be passed down to our modern people (rule 1). Of course, the situation has changed, so our current population is not affected by gay activity. But for people to make a change to people's genetic image, one needs to undertake a profound thinking exercise that embodies why one prefers to discourage gay activity based on a genetically passed down memory. This discouragement was preferred historically, the situation has changed. In the present day, our population would not be affected by gay activity, so we should give gay people their rights (rule 2). Notice when Westerners were copying the desert people’s governance system, they also discouraged gay activities. But after they reverted back to a democratic system, they do not prohibit gay activity any more.
Now I want to address the problem of why Hong Kong’s youths behave so inappropriately in the recent protests. I do not believe the youths want to protest the extradition law; rather, they are disputing Hong Kong Government's connection with China. They mentally do not want Hong Kong to be ruled by China, and they want no connection with China. The reason for this opposition is they have a genetic image that China is a highly corrupted country. China has thousands of year history. China was the center of the world for a long time. China had no outside competition until last two hundred years ago. Therefore, government officials became complacent. Instead of making sure people gave their fair share of contributions to society, the government officials abused their power. They wanted more money for themselves. This corruption weakened the country, and ordinary people suffered greatly. So when Westerners came to China in the 1800s, China could not compete with them. In other words, China was bullied by the Westerners.
This image of China as a corrupted country can be passed down genetically (rule 1). Not all youths possess such a genetic image. I estimate it is about 40%. But things have changed dramatically in the last thirty years. China performs anti-corruption programs that have placed many corrupt government officials in prison. China builds a large number of infrastructures for easy transportation and improving people's way of life. China opens trade with the rest of the world and has ranked as the second-largest economic country. China makes major advancements in science and technology and serves as the leader in various areas. Some Chinese youths are born with the genetic image that China is a corrupted country, but when they see how China can now stand up against Westerners' bullying, they feel very happy. They see the above changes in China and they feel proud of being Chinese. In other words, the environment has caused a profound thinking shift in Chinese youths that the image of China a corrupted country has been erased (rule 2). Replacing it with the image that China has persevered against Westerners' bullying. They become patriotic. They see China as advancing to lead the world for a better place.
However, Chinese youths outside mainland China, in places like Hong Kong and Taiwan, are not so lucky. They have not felt the prominent changes in China. They still maintain the genetic image that China is a corrupt country. They need a profound thinking exercise to make a change to their genetic image of China, just like youths in mainland China did. One may question why the majority of the protesters are young youths? The reason is youths stay in schools or are recent graduates, so they have little chance to experience the transformations in China. But as time passes, they will gradually experience the change in China. As they grow older, their genetic image of China as a corrupt country will be erased, so that is why the protesters are mostly young youths.
In a democratic society, the ethical way to settle a dispute is through dialogue. Each side tries to convince the other side why one’s idea is better. If they cannot agree, then they use the "majority rules" method. There should be no violence. But the youth protesters of Hong Kong are not using this democratic method to settle this dispute of the extradition law issue. They employ violence. It is true in the old days when people wanted to change a controlling (authoritarian) governance system, people had to resort to violence, like Dr. Sun Yat Sen overthrown the authoritarian Qing Dynasty. This case shows Hong Kong youths are still adapting the controlling governance system method to solve a conflict. They have not altered their behavior to fit the democratic society yet. There is also no point to hold a referendum to settle the issue, not until Hong Kong youths undergo a profound thinking exercise to change their image of China as a corrupt country like youths in mainland China did.
Now non-Westerners are trying to adapt the democratic governance system, but there are many genetic behaviors needed to undergo via a profound thinking exercise to fit into the democratic society. One example is that non-Westerners do not understand the true meaning of a human right. As mentioned previously, the self-discipline (democratic) system prioritizes the interest of the individual. But when a situation occurs that the group interest is more important than individual interest, Westerners genetically know to give-up one's interest for the benefit of the group while non-Westerners do not. For example, when a Western government takes land from individuals to build a new highway across a major city, people do not complain about taking away their land. Westerners genetically know social interest is more important than individual concerns, so they willingly accept whatever compensation was given to them by the law.
In China, when the government takes land from individuals to build a new highway across a major city, the majority of individuals who are affected would accept the government's compensation and willingly relinquish their land. However, some individuals have heard about human rights in Western society, but they do not fully understand the true meaning of a human right. They refuse to give up their land because they think they have a human right. When the government sends a bulldozer to level houses on the properties and deposes compensation money into their bank account, the government is exercising its controlling power. In either case, in the Western society or China, the highway can be built and benefits the society overall.
In Hong Kong, the government urgently needs land to build affordable housing for citizens, but people refuse to give up their land to the government. They claim they have human rights, they do not understand the true meaning of a human right. Housing is a major problem in Hong Kong. Living conditions are so bad that people describe it as living in a sardine can. This hardship causes frustration among young people. This problem can only be solved after people understand the true meaning of a human right. A human right means each member's personal preferences are highly respected, as long as the performance of the entire group is not impacted. But when the situation warrants that the society interest is more important than an individual’s interest, the individual should know to give-up one's interest for the good of the society. Westerners genetically understand this point. Non-Westerners do not understand this point.
People might think freedom or doing whatever they like could bring prosperity to society, but this myth is illogical. Doing things that one likes but do not benefit society is selfishness. In a democratic society, one needs to self-discipline oneself to only do things that are beneficial to society. I can see many behaviors conducted by Hong Kong’s youths that are not appropriate. One example is during the "occupy central" movement, protesters blocked main roads for more than 70 days. Does this action benefit society? Obvious not, it is just the opposite. I would like Hong Kong’s youths to rethink their freedom. Can their freedom bring benefits to the entire society? If not, then it is not freedom. It is selfishness. Take a look at "genetic separatist ". Can this behavior bring benefits to society? Let us do a profound thinking exercise. If we follow this path, assuming Hong Kong become independent, very soon New Territory will ask for separation from Hong Kong because it has more land and they do not want to listen to Central Hong Kong. The process continues and Hong Kong will be broken into smaller and smaller entities. Finally, it will reach a situation like in Libya or Samaria. Hong Kong's economics will be ruined. The correct democratic behavior is to consider economics as the most important factor in joining or separating a country. If Hong Kong wants to run a successful democratic society, then people have a lot to learn.
The reason why non-Westerners cannot maintain a truly democratic society is that they do not have the high level of self-discipline controlling skill to only do things that are beneficial to society. After they have adapted the democratic system, they either become corrupt (example Taiwan, South-east Asia, Africa, Northern Europe, Central and South America, etc.) or they fight with each other (example Middle East countries). The few successful countries like Singapore, Korea, and Japan are adapting a controlling governance system, not a truly democratic system.
The reason why Westerners can maintain a truly democratic society is that they went through an elimination process where selfish people were eliminated a long time ago. For more than three thousand years Westerners are using this self-discipline government system. Their behaviors have adjusted to fit this self-discipline system. One sign which might show that this elimination process did occur to Westerners happened in ancient times. Many times, as reported in the news, a certain lonely Westerner/student went to a crowded place or school and opened fire on everyone. This genetic behavior triggered when a Westerner/student feels if he is not accepted by the society/group, he will kill other people before he dies. Of course today one does not have to die if one feels he or she is excluded by the society/group. But in the ancient frigid cold environment of North-western Europe, one could not survive if one was not accepted by his group. Some would take action to kill others before he died. This genetic behavior has transmitted to the Westerners. This genetic behavior does not appear in other races, such as Asians or Blacks.
The difference between me and others is evident while others use observation to find out how democracy works, I use logical reasoning to derive how democracy was originated, which is more accurate to describe how democracy operates. By observation, people conclude democracy should be easy: simply do whatever one likes and do not interfere with others, just enjoy freedom and human rights. The statement deceives many people. By using logical reasoning I have found how democracy works is not that easy. One needs to maintain a high level of self-discipline to only do things that are beneficial the society. While a human right means each member's personal preferences were highly respected, as long as the performance of the entire group was not impacted. But when a situation occurs that the group interest is more important than individual interests, Westerners genetically know to give-up one's interest for the good of the group while non-Westerners do not. Also by using my "Theory of Human Genetic Behavior," I have found that non-Westerners have many unfit genetic behaviors when adapting a democratic society. They do not aware they have these unfit behaviors because, in the environment of their ancestors, these behaviors were practiced. Unless they are told that they are wrong because the environment has changed and they are willing to undertake a profound thinking exercise, they typically cannot correct their mistakes. Therefore, it is important to develop my "Theory of Human Genetic Behavior". Also, do not worry if one has unfit genetic behaviors. Today our intelligent level is much higher than ancient people’s. We can easily erase our unfit genetic behaviors and replace them with proper ones by undertaking a profound thinking exercise.
The job of a governance system is to achieve the welfare of its people. But people's genetic backgrounds determine which kind of governance system will be workable. For Chinese people, they are more workable to have a controlling governance system. For more than three thousand years Chinese are using a controlling government system. People of China and Hong Kong have the same genetic background. Now Hong Kong’s citizens want to run a democratic society. The above shows they do not know they need to change their genetic behaviors passed down from a controlling type governance system to fit a democratic type system. Without this change, they cannot successfully run a democratic society. Because of Hong Kong youths’ transmitted genetic behaviors; they are easily influenced by foreign nations’ “meddling.”
The first step to alter Hong Kong’s youths’ unfit behaviors is to verify my "Theory of Human Genetic Behaviors." If my theory is substantiated as true (which I believe so), we can let them know they have genetic passed down behaviors which are unfit in a democratic society. Those behaviors need to be altered in order to operate a truly democratic society. The way to validate this "Theory of Human Genetic Behaviors" is as follows:
We can disseminate a survey. I need data to show that human genetic behaviors are observed by most people. Now we assess how people in the world behave via data collecting. We use the three groups of people above, the Westerners, the desert people, and the hot weather people for data collection. Conducting a survey can verify my theory because by observation, we have determined animals have instincts. We can use the same method to confirm if humans have genetic behaviors, too.
So observe the way how the Westerners, the desert people, and the hot weather people behave concerning their respective genetic background, choose which model is closer to reality:
Model 1: The human mind is blank at birth, so humans need to learn everything anew.
Model 2: Humans have genetic behaviors just like animals possess instincts. But humans are intelligent animals. Humans can adjust their genetic behaviors quickly to fit the new environment. That is why people have not noticed humans' genetic behaviors.
Considering the following facts before people make their choice:
1. Black youths are reported to exhibit violence tendency. The number of black youths involved in violence is disproportional to their population, especially in fatal shooting cases. As mentioned above the ancestors of black youths lived in a hot environment which was overcrowded. Therefore, individual or small group fighting to compete for resources became common. This does show black youths' violence is caused by their ancestors' environmental experiences genetically passed down to them.
2. The abortion issue is mainly concerned with Westerners, both in the pro and anti-abortion groups. Non-Westerners seldom see this is an issue. As mentioned above, Westerners' ancestors lived the cold environment where life was considered to be very precious, because the cold weather could kill. Therefore they needed to preserve life all they could. But the environment has changed. In today's situation, it brings hardship to force a woman to raise an unwanted child. Therefore, we have the pro-abortion group where Westerners who have undertaken a profound thinking exercise and the anti-abortion group where Westerners who have not yet. This does show the abortion issue among Westerners is caused by their ancestors' experience genetically passed down to them. This also explains why other races do not see abortion as an issue.
3. Everyone considers one's life as the most important thing, yet Arabic youths and young people can perform suicide bombing. I can explain this from a genetic point of view. Arabic people's ancestors lived in the desert environment where water was very scarce. People formed groups for hunting. If the group's water storage was diminished in the middle of the desert, the whole group would face death. In the desert environment, group fighting was common for scarce resources. Some loyal group member of a certain group might be considered sacrifice oneself for the good of the group. So he/she stealthily by the cover of the night destroyed the other group's water storage. Of cause, he/she would be killed by the other group by doing so. This experience can be genetically passed down to our modern Arabic people. This is my explanation of why Arabic youths and young people can do a suicide bombing. This shows the reason why Arabic youths and young people can do suicide bombing has a genetic factor.
4. US consist of 50 constituent entities. Before 1776, they were all separate entities. At that time people could see that if all the entities could join together and became a large union, every entity would be benefited economically. So they willingly joined together and became the United States. After that, the United States improves tremendously both economically and politically that the US becomes the most powerful country on earth. On the other hand, in the Middle East in Libya and Samaria, the country is divided into many small entities that each entity acts like a country of its own. They are fighting with each other. This tension causes great suffering to the people. A large number of refugees rush to Europe. Why is there such a profound difference? The disparity is caused by people's diversity in genetic behaviors. The Westerners genetically consider economics is the most important factor in joining or separating a country. However, the desert people genetically consider ranking improvement when separating from a country. As mentioned above ranking was established in the desert people. All the time people wanted to improve their ranking. They wanted to be on the top. This desire can be passed down genetically. If a portion of the country can separate from a country, people of that portion will improve their ranking by getting rid of higher-ranking people on the top. Therefore, desert people countries can only be divided into smaller ones until there is a war where the stronger entity conquers the smaller ones. This shows the difference between Westerners and Easterners in the different way of separating and joining of a country has a genetic factor.
People can consider the above facts when making a choice in the survey. If my theory is verified to be true, then we say humans have genetic behaviors, just like animals have instincts. We can setup a discussion session to highlight what genetic behaviors of non-Westerners which are unfit in a democratic society. In short, I suggest the following topics: 1. People think democracy should be easy: simply do whatever one likes and do not interfere with others, just enjoy freedom and human rights. This statement decieves many people. By using logical reasoning I have found democracy is not that easy. One needs to maintain a high level of self-discipline to only do things that are beneficial the society. Just look at why so many non-Westerner countries fail to adapt a democracy society, and we can see this point.
2. Human right means each member's personal preferences are highly respected, as long as the performance of the entire group is not impacted. But when the situation occurs that the group interest is more important than individual interest, the individual should know to give-up one's interest for the good of the group. Westerners genetically understand this point. Non-Westerners do not understand this point.
3. The Westerners genetically consider economics is the most important factor in joining or separating a country. However, the non-Westerners genetically consider ranking improvement (not to be rules by some higher authority) is the most important factor.
4. Some Hong Kong’s youths embrace the image that China is a very corrupt country. But China certainly has achieved progress starting from a very poor backward country to a modern country by applying a controlling governance system. It is illogical for a corrupt government to have that kind of achievement. It seems the image that China is corrupt country among Hong Kong youths is a genetic passed down memory.
5. People's genetic background decides which kind of governance system will be workable. For the Chinese people, they are more workable to have a controlling governance system. Now Hong Kong people want to adapt a democratic society. They need to alter many genetic behaviors from a controlling governance system to accommodate a democratic system.
6. After people recognize they have unfit genetic behaviors, it is easy for them to correct those unfit behaviors because our intelligent level is much higher than ancient people. We can swiftly erase our unfit genetic behaviors and replace them with proper ones. Is this true?
7. The true meaning of freedom of speech is one can only say what is the truth. One cannot try to influence other people by untrue statements. In the extradition law issue, people make a lot of untrue statements. In a democratic society, one must be honest with each other.
The above topics are my suggestion. People can add their suggestions. The discussion will help us to understand what democracy really is and how can non-Westerners operate a truly democratic society. Up to now, all non-Westerners have failed in adapting a truly democratic society.
There is another way to verify if my theory is true, but it takes longer time to achieve the result. It is to conduct an experiment whereby a group of ten couples (i.e. male and female) of mice is initially trained to push three buttons in sequence, red, yellow and blue before they receive a food reward. The average length of time required to train them is recorded. The mice will continue to be fed in this manner for the rest of their lives. The five couples with the longest, not shortest, training times are then selected. From their offspring, select another group of ten couples. These ten couples are again trained and fed in the same manner and the length of time needed to be trained is also recorded. This trend endures go for many generations. As a consequence of the selective breeding theory, these mice should be taking longer and longer to get trained, with each successive generation. However, if my theory is correct, these mice will be taking shorter and shorter times to get trained, with each successive generation. I expect the required training time will be shortened after each generation and after many generations; a talented mouse might appear who can learn very quickly. After more generations, all the mice will be talented and this behavior becomes an instinct for this group of mice. This is the mature stage of inheriting genetic experience. After reaching this mature stage, no more improvement in training time can be observed. This takes about 7 generations. This information is taken from British pigeon farmers when they try to create a new breed of pigeons. This experiment will verify whether experience can genetically pass down to the next generation.
I reiterate democracy is a self-discipline governance system. It requires its people to have a high level of self-discipline skill to be successful in running a democratic society. The citizens of Hong Kong will fail in attempting to adapt a truly democratic society unless they can alter their genetic behaviors passed down from a controlling type governance system to fit a democratic type system. This “Theory of Human Genetic Behaviors" will also be helpful to all non-Westerners who want to run a truly democratic society.
